IC1318

IC1318 & Gamma Cygni

IC1318 is huge but faint region of nebulosity in the area around Gamma Cygnus. The entire region is much larger than the field of view shown in this picture and even in this field of view there is much more nebulosity than you can see here as this photo was taken with a camera not particularly sensitive to the wavelenghts of light emitted by this nebula. None of the nebulosity seen here was visible to the naked eye through the telescope I used to take this photograph. This is the second image taken from my observatory building on the first weekend after completing construction (click HERE for observatory construction details).
