Links

These are links to the sites of fellow amateur astronomers or sites that I consider to be particularly useful or interesting. I have tried to organize them into somewhat logical categories. I hope you enjoy them

General:

Official International Year of Astronomy site

- The local club that I belong to

- A GREAT site that has EVERYTHING you need to know about Astronomy. There are articles and reviews about every subject imaginable as well as user forums where there are lots of knowledgeable people willing to answer your questions and share their experience with you. The user forums are one of the best Astronomy resources on the Web.

- A GREAT magazine with articles and reviews about astronomy equipment. I have actually been published in this magazine! (but don't hold that against them) My first article was a review in Volume 2 Issue 12 on page 42. The magazine is available as both conventional hard copy and Adobe PDF electronic files.
USNO Sun/Moon Rise/Set Tables

- US Naval Observatory page that will generate tables listing Sun/Moon Rise/Set Tables for a year as well as Civil/Nautical/Astronomical Twilight Tables. Very useful for observation planning.

NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day

- A different astronomy related picture each day. From professional observatories, amateurs, satellites, etc.

Software:

Yahoo ImagesPlus User Group - A place to share info with users of the ImagesPlus program. The author of the program moderates the group and this is a place you can communicate directly with the program's author. Also several well known astrophotographers and authors of books on the subject are members.
Barkosoft   - Steve Barkes software page. He is the author of GuideDog autoguiding software and DSLRControl which allows computer control of a DSLR camera so you can automate a series of exposures. I use both of these great programs for my astrophotography.

Astrophotography:

Cloudy Nights DSLR & Digital Camera Astro Imaging & Processing Forum

- Probably the BEST reference for DSLR imaging on the Web. You can get answers to all of your DSLR imaging questions here.

Yahoo DSLR Astrophotography Group

- Another great place to find info and ask questions about imaging with DSLR's

Binocular Astronomy:

Cloudy Nights Binocular Astronomy Forum - Probably the best site on the Web for information about binocular astronomy
Yahoo Binocular Astronomy Group - Another great place to find info and ask questions about binocular astronomy
