Moon & Venus Conjunction

Thin  Crescent  Moon  &  Venus Conjunction

This was a relatively close conjunction of a young crescent Moon and Venus on the evening of July 9, 2005. This photo was taken with a Canon 300D and Canon 70-300mm zoom lens at 200mm F5.0 mounted on a Bogen 3036 tripod with a 3047 3 way head. Lunar details are visible on the dark side of the Moon due to light reflected from the Earth, commonly called "Earthshine".
